The 44GS created a visually recognisable ÒgrammarÓ of design for Grand Seiko watches to follow Ð balancing legibility and light with a beautiful dial layout.
The textured dial of this timepiece is inspired by the ÔTsuki TenshinÕ or ÔHigh MoonÕ which diffuses light over the night sky; the deep navy blue dial expresses the shadows created by the moon.

The SBGY009 is powered by a manual-winding Spring Drive Calibre 9R31 with an accuracy of ±15 seconds per month, or ±1 second per day. The movement uses two mainsprings set in parallel within a single barrel to deliver a power reserve of 72 hours.
